Back To School But BETTER:
Do you want your kids to behave better in school (and at home?)
Check out this great study from the British Journal of Nutrition. I suspect the children would have had even better benefits from whole food based vitamins and/or some high quality whole food!
“Nutritional supplement improves behavior of difficult schoolchildren-Children with behavior problems or attention deficit in an East London school experienced dramatic improvements while taking nutritional supplements for three months, an Oxford University research project has found. The children, aged from 13 to 16, were given either a quality multivitamin and a multi mineral or a placebo. Levels of vitamins, minerals and omega-3 in the blood were measured throughout the trial, and their behavior was measured in tests and from school disciplinary records. The behavior of the students given the supplements improved dramatically during the three months, while that of the placebo group actually worsened, say the researchers. The supplements, which include 25 nutrients such as cranberry and green tea extracts, iron, zinc and vitamins C, B6 and B12, are designed to improve mood, behavior, and brain function.” -Adapted from B. Wow, right? Poor kids, so many of their ‘behavior’ problems are actually malnutrition problems…. and parents don’t’ even know it! I recommend the following for all of our school kids, and our kids have them every morning, too. These can also easily be ground up and added to breakfast cereal, milk, smoothies, oatmeal, etc if kids can’t swallow pills.

Pain is a DRAG!
With the ‘opioid epidemic,’ it is really becoming hard for ‘legitimate’ patients in pain to receive the pain relief they need. And, of course, opioid drugs have well known serious problems. Dr. Sally has looked into alternative pain relief methods and has some good tricks up her sleeve. She starts by addressing the CAUSE of the pain. (What a novel idea…) When the cause can be removed, well, then the pain goes away.
For example…. Chronic pain is sometimes ‘neurogenic’ in cause. That means, basically, that an original injury triggered a pain carrying nerve to work hard carrying an appropriate signal to the brain. But, as the injury healed, the nerve itself became damaged from overwork. Then the nerve itself becomes a source of pain, a pain that keeps on going until we heal the nerve! One indication that you have a neurogenic pain problem is that it is not helped very much or very long by regular pain medication or physical therapy. Dr. Sally does a remarkable treatment (which feels similar to acupuncture) called ‘Lyftoght’ Neuroprolotherapy which helps heal the damaged nerves in these cases. Intraneural injection therapy, Lyftoght and Neural Therapy are all safe, gentle and effective ways to stop many chronic pain symptoms.
What else can we do for pain? There are some GREAT studies out there on alternatives to chemical painkillers like Ibuprofin. One such herb is Turmeric Forte. This product has a unique ability to stop the CHRONIC pain cycle. We use this particular curcumin/turmeric product because it is absorbed up to 45.6 times more effectively than ‘regular’ turmeric, and it is easy to take with small tablets.
